Caregiver in Mountainside NJ
Part of the fun of being a family caregiver for your elderly loved ones is being able to spend quality time with them making memories. Doing crafts and activities to celebrate holidays is a wonderful way to do this, especially when you are able to include your children and make it into a multigenerational activity that bonds the generations and allows you to spend time with your seniors and your children together.
This delightfully spooky recipe is perfect for making together during the Halloween season whether you are hosting a neighborhood Halloween party or just want to do something silly on a weekend afternoon. For portion control or to give everybody a chance to make their own dessert, try putting the pudding in individual cups instead of the large dishes before decorating.
What You Will Need
• 4 ounces of unsweetened chocolate
• 4 ounces of bittersweet chocolate
• 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
• 4 large egg yolks
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla
• 1 cup of sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon of salt
• 6 tablespoons of cornstarch
• 3 1/2 cups of milk
• 2 teaspoons of confectioners’ sugar
• 3/4 cup of cold heavy cream
• 1 package of gummy worms
• 1 package, 16 ounces, of chocolate sandwich cookies
• 1 package Milano cookies
• Black piping gel
• A double boiler or a metal bowl and a pot of barely simmering water
• A small mixing bowl
• A medium heavy saucepan
• A whisk
• A large bowl
• Plastic wrap
• A medium bowl
• A mixing spoon
• A baking dish
What to Do
• Chop the chocolates and place together
• Cut the unsalted butter into bits and allow to soften at room temperature
• Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies
• In the top of the double boiler or in the metal bowl over simmering water, melt the chocolates, stirring until smooth
• Add the vanilla and butter to the chocolates and stir to incorporate
• Remove the chocolates from the heat
• Beat the egg yolks in the small bowl
• Whisk the sugar, salt and cornstarch together in the medium, heavy saucepan
• Add the milk to the cornstarch mix in a stream, constantly whisking
• While mixing constantly, keeping lumps from forming, bring the mixture to a boil
• Remove from the heat
• Add 1 cup of the hot milk mix to the egg yolks
• Whisk the egg and milk mixture until smooth
• Add the mixture to the saucepan with the hot milk and put on medium low heat, bringing it to a simmer
• While whisking constantly for about 3 minutes, simmer until it is thick and smooth
• Remove from the heat
• Whisk in the melted chocolate mixture
• Transfer into a large bowl and cover with plastic wrap, pressing down on the surface to prevent a skin forming
• Refrigerate until cool
• In the medium bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form
• Add the confectioners’ sugar, while continuing to beat until stiff peaks begin to form
• Fold half of the whipped cream and most of the cookies into the cooled pudding mix
• Spoon into square, 9 inch glass baking dishes
• Sprinkle with the remaining cookies
• Press the Milano cookies into the pudding in rows to create tombstones. Use black piping gel to add “RIP” or other messages onto the tombstones
• Spoon in the remaining whipped cream in blobs on the top, creating ghosts
• Garnish with gummy worms, pushed slightly down below the surface
• Either refrigerate or serve immediately

However, after Robert’s grandmother became ill with stomach cancer Robert and his family needed to find assistance in the home for her. After many trials and tribulations Robert could see that there was a great need for quality home care services here in NJ and loved the idea of being able to assist other families who were going through what his family went through with his beloved grandmother.
Thus, Robert had found his passion. After almost a year of preparation Robert opened Helping Hands Homecare in 2003.
